Denying self

Luke.9.23 – Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me._

*Denying self*

There is an experience that everyone who has received Christ Jesus must under go, it’s called dying to self. When a man is in Christ, by the spirit his past has been declared dead and all things have become new. However not many hold this testimony in their walk of salvation.

Unless you deny self; you cannot fully represent Christ, you cannot serve God as you ought to, the fruit of the spirit Man comes out of you when you learn to subject self into death or when are delivered from your own selfish leading.

Our theme scripture speaks of any who wants to come after Jesus; coming after Jesus literally means to learn from Jesus, it means that if you want to carry the yoke of Christ, his burden and desire. You must be ready to deny your selfish goals and ambitions.

What does it mean to deny self? As a believer you have desires and passions in life but many of them are not consistent with Christ’s burden and vision. Forexample why do you want to become rich, why do you want to become a leader, why do you want to become a pastor. Many people could say serving God but the intents of the heart are corruption.

So self denial is when your heart is circumcised by Christ, he becomes your ultimate vision and purpose for living. Such a follower will always hear the voice of God rightly. The true standard of God is when your life is led, preserved and directed by the voice of purpose.

*Nugget* So self denial is when your heart is circumcised by Christ, he becomes your ultimate vision and purpose for living.

*Prayer* Loving Father I thankyou for this Truth, may my heart remain sensitive to your dealings amidst all these things that try me. Your Spirit guides me in it all. Amen.
