*Theme scripture*
*Romans 2:4*
_Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and long-suffering, *not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?*_
*CONSISTENCY*
From context, our theme scripture was addressed to the religious moralist of Paul’s day who thought themselves not being as sinful as the heathen Gentiles; those outcasts who did all these despicable things Paul had mentioned earlier in Romans 1:18-32 . Paul pouched right on them telling them just how Guilty they too were, deserving of God’s judgement and they shouldn’t mistake God’s Goodness to mean they are innocent but instead that they too are to turn to repentance.
However, the Holy Spirit of God opens the eyes of our understanding to yet another awesome truth from this our theme scripture that its actually the Goodness of God and by this we mean His love that is the greater motivation to turn men from their sin than Fear. Yes! Fear of a burning Hell and of the pending wrath of God can motivate some men to turn from sin _*but Fear will never establish a man’s places of consistency with the lord*_ , atleast not as much as His goodness; His love because ” *Fear hath torment.” (1 John 4;18)*
Those motivated to seek God because of fear will cease being motivated to do that seeking when things are going well. They become the ones who only pray when they are in trouble. However, those who come to God because of His goodness will see God as the source of their success and continue to serve God in the good and the bad times. Men motivated by God’s goodness are they who will Study the Word, pray and worship God in their places of solitude with the same or even greater intensity they did whilst in a multitude of Believers. *_Seek Him because His Good, and not because you are fearful he maybe in a bad mood if you don’t; you’ll will be more consistent_*
*NUGGET*
_What motivates you to draw closer seeking God whether it be His goodness; His unconditional love or the Fear of His wrath will determine your places of consistency_
*PRAYER*
Father thank you for your goodness. Thank you for your unconditional love thay draws me not only from my sin but to the places of consistently and continually seeking you. I love you Jesus and in Jesus’ Name I have prayed Amen.
