*STUDY SCRIPTURE*
Nehemiah 8:10 – Then [Ezra] told them, Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet drink, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. And be not grieved and depressed, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and stronghold.
*THE JOY OF THE SPIRIT*
Joy is a feeling of extreme happiness or cheerfulness, especially related to the acquisition or expectation of something good. But there is a difference between the joy the world gives and the joy of the spirit.
The joy that the world gives is temporary, but the joy of the spirit is eternal.
From our study scripture, we see Ezra telling the Isrealites not to be grieved and depressed because the joy of the Lord was their strength. The joy of the spirit is the only thing that can enable you to have peace amidst problems and troubles of this world.
Romans 14:17 (KJV)“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”Some find joy in only their money, some find joy in their accomplishments, and some find joy in only things offered by this world, but we Christians ought to find joy in the presence of the Holy spirit.
If our joy is of the spirit, our joy lasts,
If we find joy in that which is temporary, that joy is temporary for nothing can outlast it’s source. The things of the world fail, become uncertain, and change but the Holy spirit never changes, fails or become unreliable.
Hallelujah!!
