*How to receive the Holy Spirit*
Luke.11.13 – If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
As long as one doesn’t have the person of the holy spirit in them, before God they are orphans, helpless, comfortless etc; *John.14.17 – Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. John.14.18 – I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.*
Many people say there is a certain kind of cleanness or purity you must attain in order to receive the holy spirit and many others false sayings used to show how we are separated from the person of the holy spirit.
Scripture says; 1John.1.9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to *forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.* So there is no greater cleanliness or purity that one can aquaint himself with than that which came through the washing away of sin by the blood of Jesus
Eph.1.7 – In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
However everyone who has confessed and received Jesus in his heart is a candidate qualified for the Holy Spirit; Gal.4.6 – And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
So the indwelling experience with the Holy Spirit happens to everyone who believes, they basic way of asking God for the holy spirit is through receiving Jesus in your heart. The holy spirit comes as a seal, a guarantee, an assurance that you belong to God; When a Man believes through faith, God seals them with his very spirit, he is the mark of ownership we have from God. For instance, after Cornelius and those in his household were saved, they
did not have to wait to receive the Holy Spirit. Immediately they got saved, the holy spirit was available to fill them.
That should be your confidence as a child of God, that you have the very spirit of your heavenly father in your heart and he is there to stay; that is the indwelling experience every believer has with the Holy Spirit.
