?? The Greek word for baptisms is baptismos and it is different from the other kinds of baptisms. Baptismos as used here means washings or purifications by means of water. So it’s not speaking of baptism of the holy ghost but doctrine of washings.

This same word is used in Hebrews 9:10 KJV

?? Hebrews 9:10 KJV Which stood only in meats and drinks, *and divers washings*, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.

This means he is speaking of the kind like in ablution.

And lastly this same word is used in mark 7 where Jesus was speaking to the Jews concerning the washing of the outside part of the cup yet the inward part is not cleansed.

?? Mark 7:4 KJV And when they come from the market, except they *wash*, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the *washing* of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables.

?? This means there is a false cleansing and there is a true cleansing. The false cleansing is the place where you try to make yourself clean by the outside appearance. Look at the Moslems, they bathe, wash their hands saying incase you don’t do that before prayer then you are unclean. They focus on the outside part and leave the heart and conscience. That’s not true washing.

True washing is that which begins from the inside. The true washing done by the word of God cleansing the heart of a man and cleansing your conscience from all kinds of evil. True washing is that effected from the inside out. And that kind of washing can only be done by the word of God.

?? Ephesians 5:26 KJV That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the *washing of water by the word,*

Here he speaks of the washing of water by the word and not the physical water that we use for our daily living. He is rather speaking of the word.

??So the true washing according to the spirit of God is that done by the word of God. The word of God is the cleanser and there is no other, hallelujah glory to God.

So in every stage of cleansing, we begin with the inside by the word of God because the word of God is a cleanser and the pattern of cleansing is from inside out, hallelujah glory to God

??True cleansing is the place where you don’t cleanse yourself to become pure or clean. It’s rather because God has made me clean, I cleanse myself, Because God has made me pure, I purify myself, because God has made me holy, I walk a holy life etc. That’s the true cleansing.

1st John 3:3 KJV And every man that hath this hope in him *purifieth himself, even as he is pure.*
