Turning away from God

*Study scripture*

1Kings11:4 (NKJV)

For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the LORD his God, as was the heart of his father David.

*Theme: Turning away from God*.

From our portion of scripture , we see from verse 1 of this chapter that king Solomon loved many foreign women , along with daughter of Pharaoh , Moabite , Ammonite , Edomite and many others . From the nations concerning which the Lord had said to Israel . But God had warned king Solomon about not entering marriage with them because they will turn away his heart to after their gods .

But we see that it came to pass when king Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods and his heart was not wholly true to God .

And what king Solomon did was evil in the sight of the Lord and did not wholly follow the Lord as David his father had done.

Even we can this in current world were people have received instructions not to do certain things but people go a head to do them thus disobeying the Lord our God .

Therefore as children of God , we have to follow what our God wants us to do in order for our hearts to be loyal to our God . If anyone wants to enjoy his life in God to the fullest , he /she has to obey what the Lord says .
