THE GOOD SHEPHERD

**Study scripture* ;
*_The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psalms 23.1(NKJV)_*

*THE GOOD SHEPHERD.*

The word ” _shepherd_ ” there is figuratively used to represent the relation of rulers to their subjects and of God to His people.

A shepherd in those days would do many things for their sheep forexample; keep them, gather them, refresh them, guiding those with the young gently.

At night they would count the sheep as they get back to the field under the rod as they passed to assure oneself that none was missing, even to the extend of not sleeping to prevent the beasts of the field from devouring them.

Scripture also says ” _For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.(1Pet.2.25 NKJV)_ Jesus Christ.

The reason the Bible calls Christ the watcher of over our souls is that He is a good Shepherd, He lays His life down for the sheep. Remember how he considered himself of no reputation and humbled himself even to the point of death despite being in the image of God for you and me.

He knows you by name and calls you by name. His eye is always on you, His love is the cause of His care for you. He will feed you,protect you, help you, heal you, refresh you, restore you and carry you through all.
