THE DECEIPTION OF PRIDE

*Study scripture: * _Obadiah 1:2-4-Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised. The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground? Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD. *(KJV)*_

*THE DECEIPTION OF PRIDE. *

The verses above give us an elementary understanding of what pride is. A proud man says in his heart *_“who shall bring me down to the ground?”_* Pride is what teaches a man to think even God cannot hinder him and all they are is because of their efforts.

For example, The man who built the Titanic was asked by a reporter how safe the Titanic would be and in an ironic tone, he said: *_‘Not even God can sink it.’_* God allowed this boat to sink to make this man small who had been deceived by the pride of his heart.

Another example is Herod, *_Acts 12:21-23-And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.And the people gave a shout, saying,It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost._*

The word says Herod was struck to death *_because he gave not the glory to God._* Many people are having losses in many things because they are not giving glory to God. God always intends to bring down any man that does not give him glory. It is deceiption of pride not to give glory to God.

There is a person struggling to get a job because he did not give glory to God for his graduation. One man is struggling in ministry because he does not give glory to God for the anointing upon him. One could be struggling in business because he despises God.

As a Christian,it does not matter how much efforts you are putting in to prosper. Do not allow the deception of pride tell you it is your efforts. Recognise that it has been God in your ministry,finances,marriage,career and everything.

As a Christian,it does not matter how much efforts you are putting in to prosper. Do not allow the deception of pride tell it is your efforts. Recognise that it has been God in your ministry,finances,marriage,career and everything.
