TESTING FOR EXPEDIENCY

*TESTING FOR EXPEDIENCY.*

One of the many questions frequently asked in the New Testament is the concern of what is good and what is bad. Many have questions of is it good for a Christian to do this or not to do it? Yet God has not given us a long list of dos and don’ts in our time.

Many ask questions like is it good for a Christian to dress like this? Is it good for s Christian to drink wine? Is it good for a Christian to watch pornography and other TV shows? Is it good for a Christian not to ? etc.

The question is not whether it is good or bad but the question is to what extent have those things ministered godly edification to your spirit and the people around you? Have you tested for their edification?

Before you sit to know if something is good or bad, can it impart nourishment of your spirit to you? Before you watch any movie, show or clip, how much godly edification does it carry? You are supposed to invest in things that profit you spiritually.

To what extent does your dress code or what you want to do minister the substance of godliness to those around you? All things are good for you to do but not all profit you spiritually. Not all edify.

Learn to test for expediency and edification in the things that you do as an individual. Do not ask questions of whether something is good or bad. Assess its impact on your spiritual life and the edification of others in godliness before you think of doing it.
