*Theme Scripture*
*John 14:8-9*
_Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?_
*SEEING THE FATHER 1*
From our theme passage of scripture, Philip who had spent quite some time with Jesus desires to see the Father hoping to gain some form of Sufficiency and satisfaction and Jesus turns to him in dismay and says if he has seen Him ( Jesus), he has seen the Father not because Jesus was the Father but they and the Father were one Praise the lord!
And did you know many of us today are not any different from Philip because despite having spent quite some time in this journey of Salvation; things like the Word are just quite not sufficient for us and many of us desire to see or feel more to possibly believe or know that there is God or that He surely is in control of our circumstances. We desire to first see some supernatural thing first or some demonstration of Power before we can fully be satisfied in our hearts.
That’s not how it should be saints. Do you want to the see God? Do you want to see the Father and hear what He has to say about your life? Then learn above all things to Esteem what is Written in the Word because He is the Word ( John 1;1). Peter records His experiences and despite having been eye witnesses to His Majesty and having heard His glorious voice from the Excellent Glory; he confirms it that that this Word is actually a more sure Word or Prophecy. Its more sure than any experiences you will ever want to witness and even if you did like Thomas had, its not automatic your unbelief will disappear. So don’t say “If only God can show me this or that, then I will surely be content” No, just believe whats already written and is more Sure
Its therefore not bad to desire to feel or see a demonstration of God’s Power or signs and Wonders however if you find your sufficiency solely in such as these then you are prone to manipulation because the Devil too can operate in that Realm. Do you desire Sufficiency? Do want to see and hear the Father ? Start by believing the Word and what it says because He is the Word
