PARABLE OF THE SOWER 3

*Study scripture:* _Mark 4:7 – And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit._

*PARABLE OF THE SOWER 3*

In this parable of the sower, the sower is the man that ministers in the word, the ground/earth is the heart of a man and the seed that was sowed is the word of God.

The interpretation of those that fell among the thorns is this; *Luke.8.14 – And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.*

This is another reason as to why some christians may never bring forth fruit in the word. The cares of this world include fears, worries etc. Where shall we ea and drink? Where shall we sleep? What shall we be dressed with?

All these worries frustrate the growth and functionality of the word in a Christian. Some have been deceived by their jobs, family background, education level and have settled for that. They could think the word of God is not necessary and have turned down the callings of God upon them.

This was the very experience Paul the apostle had, *2 Corinthians 12:7 – …there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.* In the parable, the thorn is symbolic of fears and cares. The threatenings and discouragements in the world.

The thorn in Paul’s flesh was the abundance of fears and threatenings the man of God experienced. The messenger of Satan kept Paul’s life under intimidation continually. The thorn represents fears and cares.

Everytime a man operates under fears, worries and cares of this world,it frustrates and hinders the work of the word in that man’s life. That is why such a man can never bring forth fruit to fullness.

Everytime an individual is also taken up by the pleasures of this world, and his attention is focused on his riches, fame, influence and popularity, that man will never bring forth fruit.

When the word of God comes to you, exercise yourself to operate in it in boldness and to turn your attention away from all your riches to the ministry God wants to do in your life.

*Nugget:* Exercise yourself to live above fear always. Fear and worry frustrates the work of God in your life. Turn all your attention away from your riches, career, family background, and give attention to what God is building in you through the word of God.
*Praise be to God!!*

*Prayer:* I thank you Lord for the word in my spirit. I refuse to walk in fear, worries and cares of this world to the glory of God.
AMEN
