OF THE CIRCUMCISED 1* -(This Blessedness)

_[Does] *this blessedness* then [come] upon the circumcised [only,] or upon the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness._

*OF THE CIRCUMCISED 1* -(This Blessedness)

This portion of scripture is a taken from a passage of scripture where Paul was just in the middle of countering the wrong religious beliefs of the Religious Jews of His Day concerning what it takes for a man to be made righteous or have right standing before God. This gift is what Paul would called ” *This blessedness* “. He had earlier hinted on this in *vs 7-8* when he quoted David saying,

*Romans 4:7-8*
_[” *Blessed ] [are those]* [whose lawless deeds are forgiven,] [And whose sins are covered;] [ *Blessed] [is the] [man* to whom the LORD shall not impute sin.”]_

Just like the religious Jews of Paul’s day, it goes beyond mention that even today we have people who think a man can only attain right standing with God after they have been outwardly circumcised. And by ‘ *Outward Circumcision* ” they mean ” *_the perfecting or cleansing of a man’s flesh_* ” which is symbolic of doing ” *The Works of the law* “. That a man has to be Holy , be good outside doing all these good things, not sinning for them to be accepted by God.

They seemed to believe and claim that this was the way Abraham their fore-father received ” *this Blessedness* ” after he had been circumcised , dealt with the flesh as the law required of every male Jew.

However, Paul will disapprove them in ( *Romans 4:10-11* ) by firstly taking them back in scripture through the story of Abraham in ( *Genesis 15:6* ) and making it clear that this circumcision ( outward cleansing or the doing of good works) came but as a seal after he had already been declared righteous not before. He believed first, which was putting His faith in the promise of God and then he was imputed ” *This blessedness* “; declared righteous before God. Outward Circumcision (Good works) came in later just as a seal, proof or result of the true circumcision which was of the Heart ( *Romans 4:11* ).

*NUGGET*
_Just like Paul, refuse to be taken up by the deception of our Day which claims that a man receives ” *This Blessedness* “; right-standing with God after they work the works of the law. Believe in Jesus by putting your faith in His finished works on the Cross and you too will attain ” *This Blessedness* ” and good deeds will come automatically as a seal and proof you are righteous._
