Obeyed the word of the Lord

*1Kings12:24 (NKJV)*

“Thus says the LORD: “You shall not go up nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel. Let every man return to his house, for this thing is from Me.””‘ Therefore they obeyed the word of the LORD, and turned back, according to the word of the LORD.

*Theme:Obeyed the word of the Lord*

Starting from verse 16 , we see the rise of divisions in the kingdom among the people. This came about due to king Rehoboam’s rejection of the advise from the old men in order to serve his people .
So king Rehoboam reigned over the people of Israel who lived among in the cities of Judah.

But when Jeroboam returned from Egypt , people called him to the assembly and made him king over all Israel .
This was Jeroboam was very humble and God had talked to him through prophet Ahijah that if he will listen to God , walk in His ways and do what is right in the sight of God and keep His commandments , He will be with him .

But this didn’t make king Rehoboam happy . Therefore he assembled all the house of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin , 180,000 chosen warriors to fight against the house of Israel in order to restore the kingdom to himself which was not good in sight of God.

We see the man of God [ Shemaiah ] receiving the word of God to go and tell Rehoboam the son of king Solomon , king of Judah and rest of the people that they shall not fight against their relatives the people of Israel and every man should return to his home . People obeyed the word of the Lord and went back according to the word of the Lord.

What we draw from here is that we must always obey the word of our Lord in all circumstances / conditions just like the King of Judah and his people who had prepared a battle . This is because the word of God brings peace to His people and love to all.

As children of God we must let the word of God to be the lamp to our feet and a light to our path .
