Light shine brighter for God

Scripture study
1 Kings 17:17-24
Some time later the woman’s son became sick. He grew worse and worse, and finally he died. Then she said to Elijah, “O man of God, what have you done to me? Have you come here to point out my sins and kill my son?” But Elijah replied, “Give me your son.” And he took the child’s body from her arms, carried him up the stairs to the room where he was staying, and laid the body on his bed. Then Elijah cried out to the lord, “O  lord my God, why have you brought tragedy to this widow who has opened her home to me, causing her son to die?” And he stretched himself out over the child three times and cried out to the lord, “O  lord my God, please let this child’s life return to him.” The lord heard Elijah’s prayer, and the life of the child returned, and he revived! Then Elijah brought him down from the upper room and gave him to his mother. “Look!” he said. “Your son is alive!” Then the woman told Elijah, “Now I know for sure that you are a man of God, and that the lord truly speaks through you.”

God hears the prayer and cries of His righteous people. When Elijah prayed to God and asked Him to bring back the soul of the widow’s son, God heard his prayed and did as he had asked. Elijah was a person who worked within the will of God and his works were evidence of the existence of God. When Elijah brought the widow’s son back to her alive, she spoke the words “now I know for sure that you are a man of God and that the Lord truly speaks through you” Elijah’s acts were also evidence that his representing God. His light was shining for God. Let us be like Elijah. Our light should shine in the way we conduct ourselves. How amazing would it be for you to walk in a room and the presence of God is evidenced through you. Even through the smallest things like the way you greet others, listening to others. Elijah brought goodness to the life of this widow. She was able to fed herself and son for many more days and also restored life for her son. Let us be the kind of people who bring goodness to the lives of those around us. And that through everything we do, God shall be reflected in us. As Christians our actions should not question whether we are for God or not.
Cast off the works of darkness and wear armor of light. Be a light that is a source of goodness unto others.
