*LESSON ONE (INTRODUCTION)*
*PROGRAM #1: CHRIST OUR FOUNDATION.*
?? Scriptures tell us that we are the church of God and the church of God is the body of Christ.
?? Colossians 1:24 (Light House Bible) “Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is lacking in the afflictions of Christ in my flesh *for his body’s sake, which is the church:*”
_*BUILT UPON A FOUNDATION*_
?? However the church of God is built upon a foundation.
??Matthew 16:18 (Light House Bible) “And I say also to you, That you are *Peter,* and upon this *rock* I will *build my church;* and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
There are two different Greek words used for Peter and rock even if both mean rock.
1. *Petros* used for Peter meaning a rock.
2. *Petra* used for rock also means rock.
However when Jesus says he will build his church upon a rock, he uses Petra not petros. So the church was built upon Petra and not petros (Peter). So Peter is not the foundation of the church as some Catholics suggest.
_So which rock was he speaking of?_
?? Matthew 16:16 King James Version “And Simon Peter answered and said, *Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.*”
This revelation was given to Peter not by flesh and blood but by the living God. He didn’t speak of himself, he spoke by the influence and inspiration of God upon him.
??The foundation is built upon the revelation of Christ the son of the living God. That is the rock Jesus was speaking about. That is the foundation he was speaking of.
??That’s why we preach that Jesus is the Christ the son of the living God because that’s the revelation upon which the church is built. That’s the foundation on which the church is built.
?? When Saul got born again, before his name was changed, that’s the first revelation that he preached. That’s the first message he believed. He preached that Jesus was the Christ the son of the living God.
?? Acts 9:19-20 King James Version ” And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. And straightway *he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God*.”
?? _*CHRIST IS OUR SURE FOUNDATION.*_
?? 1st Corinthians 3:11 King James Version “For other foundation can no man lay *than that is laid,* which is Jesus Christ.”
Notice what Paul says, you cannot lay another foundation than that which is already laid. The foundation is already laid so all we can do is learn the foundation then build upon it.
Everything is built based on the foundation which is Christ, whether it be business, family, revelation, ministry, career, etc.
So Christ is the centre of all our teachings, all our preachings, all our prayings, all our families, all our bodies etc. The centre is Christ.
