A DESPERATE PEOPLE SETTLE FOR LESS

*STUDY SCRIPTURE*

*1 Samuel 8:5-7*
_and said to him, “Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. *Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations* .” But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the LORD. And the LORD said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, *but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.*_

*A DESPERATE PEOPLE SETTLE FOR LESS*

Yes! I know Samuel’s Sons had messed up but Israel could have done better; they were consumed with Desperation. Our theme Scripture is taken from *1 Samuel 8* and this is the time when the Israelites where tired of Judges and asked Samuel for a King which displeased both Him and God. One of the reasons they wanted a king was to *”Judge them like [ All Other Nations]”* . In other Words, Israel had been special and ” *Not like all the other Nations* ” with God as their King ruling through Judges like Samuel Deborah and that’s why He (God) says _”they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them”_

To show them how serious their request and decision was God tells Samuel to even warn them. Bible says *1 Samuel 8:9* _”Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them.”_ Samuel did show Israel what they were getting themselves into ( *1 Samuel 8;11-18* ) which was actually ” *Settling for less* ” and yet they didn’t listen nor obey the warning received; they desperately wanted a king like other nations period ( *1 Samuel 8;19-20* ) and we know what Kings landed them into dont we? A time of war, distraction and sin. That’s exactly what happens when God’s Reign is rejected in our lives over conforming to the World’s standards.

*What’s our lesson?* The bible says in *(Hebrews 1;1-2)* that _”In times past God spoke in various ways to the fathers by the prophets (Judges), has in these last days spoken to us by [His] Son…” God still speaks to us today just not solely through Judges but His Son Jesus the Word. Now we can decide out of desperation to ” *Want to be like the Other Nations* ” or even fellow believers doing things like they do, conforming to this World’s Standards and shunning the voice of God but rest warned as Israel was that it leads us only to settling for less. Make the Word be your guide through this World, its allowing God to reign and Prosper you. Allow not Desperation force you conform to ” *Being like other Nations* ” because you’re not like other Nations but ” *God’s Holy Nation, A peculiar People* ” ( *1 Peter 2;9* ). God is enough for you.

_Don’t allow Desperation cause you to settle for what other Nations have settled for you’re not like other Nation but God’s Holy Nation and peculiar people. God is enough for for you and He alone once He reign’s in your life everything you engage in Prospers._

*PRAYER*
Thank you Jesus because you’ve made me special and I don’t have to be desperate to be like those around me because I have you and you’re Enough. I trust you will reign in my Everything. Amen
